Backup codes are used to recover your GRVT Native SecureKey should you lose access to all the passkeys that can sign transactions on your behalf. These codes allow you to set-up new passkeys once you finish the recovery process.
Important Note: If your backup codes are lost, the recovery of your SecureKey may be impossible.
You have the option to generate multiple backup codes for added security. To generate a backup code for your GRVT Native SecureKey:
Navigate to the sidebar menu > Settings > SecureKey.
Navigate to Backup codes and select Create.
Follow the instructions to generate another backup code.
Store your backup code in a secure location.
Some tips to secure storage of your backup codes:
Use Offline Storage: Write it on paper and store it in a secure location, like a fireproof safe or safety deposit box.
Use Password Managers: Store your Backup Code in a trusted, encrypted password manager.
Avoid Storing It Digitally unless Encrypted: Don’t save it online (e.g., cloud services) or on unencrypted devices. If you save it as a file in your computer, tablet, or phone — consider using a strong form of encryption to safeguard it.
Keep It Private: Never share your code. GRVT staff will never ask you for your Backup Code. Beware of scammers!
Check Regularly: Ensure your storage method remains safe over time.
